Lauren James breaks silence after controversial Red Card booking against Nigeria during 2023 FIFA World Cup clash

In the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup match between England and Nigeria, youngster Lauren James found herself the center of attention from spectators, among disagreements and comments. Recently she made n apology on the social media tabloids regarding the incident.
During the match, in the 87th minute, James unintentionally stamped on their opponent Michelle Alozie, resulting in a red card and her exit from the game. However, England pushed through the game and advanced to the quarterfinal round, defeating Nigeria on penalties after a 90min play of goalless draw.
On Tuesday, Michelle Alozie wrote, “Abeg, rest. We are playing on the world stage. This game is one of passion, insurmountable emotions, and moments. All respect for Lauren James.”
Lauren James, while replying to Alozie’s tweets on Tuesday in the apology note, stated, “All my love and respect to you. I am sorry for what happened. Also, for our England fans and my teammates, playing with and for you is my greatest honor and I promise to learn from my experience.”
“Lauren is really sorry for her actions which led to the red card and is full of remorse. It is wholly out of character for her,” England’s Football Association said in a statement on their social media handles.

After stamping on Nigerian defender Michelle Alozie during Monday’s round of 16 matches between England and Nigeria, attacker Lauren James of England has apologized to her. Later, Alozie urged supporters to move past the incident on Tuesday, pointing out that football is a passionate sport. This coming Saturday, England will play Colombia in the quarterfinals, but James will be suspended for that match.
