The year is 2024, and World Cup winner Lionel Messi has finally broken his silence on potentially hanging up his boots. An illustrious career that has spanned over 21 years and 44 senior trophies saw the Argentine make a solid argument for being one of, if not the best to play the beautiful game. However, time is running out for the No.10, and with his birthday coming up in June, the soon-to-be 37-year-old has spoken on his retirement.

While nothing points to the fact that Messi has been affected by age, subtle signs such as his prolonged absence due to injury and missing more and more games is concerning. Messi missed the international break with Argentina as he recovered from a muscle injury picked up against Nashville on March 14.
