Former FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets is close to joining MLS side Inter Miami on a free transfer. Busquets recently announced that he won’t extend his stay at his boyhood club Barcelona and would leave at the end of his contract in June.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Miami is close to reaching an agreement with the Spanish midfielder. They are tempted to sign the veteran midfielder as soon as possible.

Reports suggest that the negotiations are progressing well between both parties to get the deal done in the next few days. The club’s pushing to have Sergio. Two Saudi clubs have also reportedly approached him. They are trying to get the green light too. But Miami is ahead. Lionel Messi’s presence at the American club is obviously crucial as Sergio Busquets would be ready for a reunion in MLS.

Another Barca legend, Jordi Alba, is also reportedly in talks with Inter Miami. Saudi clubs called Jordi too. And it is reported that he will decide the future soon.

In a recent interview, Pep Guardiola was asked for his thoughts on Messi playing at Inter Miami. Guardiola said, “I am out of this situation, you know more about it than I do. If in the end, Leo decides to go to the United States, I am sure he will do well and that is the best decision for him. I ignore the inner gossip. And the money over there is very good, I won’t comment about it.”

Messi was offered a billion-dollar contract for two years by the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. But Messi refused to move to Saudi League as he then said he had plans to continue in Europe.
