Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been part of one of the most, if not ‘the’ most deadly strike partnerships in world football. The duo have 478 goals and 99 assists between themselves. Luis Suarez left for Atletico Madrid in 2020, ending the partnership for the time being. However, as per reports, Luis Suarez is set to join MLS club Inter Miami and be reunited with strike partner and long-time friend Lionel Messi.

It was no secret that the duo and their wives were close starting from their time in Barcelona. Recently, an Instagram story posted by Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo has fueled rumors of the Uruguayan’s arrival at Inter Miami.

The Argentinian’s wife posted a photo collage of the duo and added a birthday wish in the caption. Antonela Roccuzzo also added:

This has fueled the rumors of Luis Suarez‘s arrival at the club.

Moreover, Inter Miami have released Josef Martínez to make space for the expected arrival of the 36-year-old. Miami coach Gerardo Martino also commented that the club has analyzed scenarios, both with and without the striker.

Luis Suarez all set to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami

Following Lionel Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami, the Argentine superstar has put effort into re-uniting with his Barcelona teammates in the MLS. Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have already joined the club, with the trio playing multiple matches together, up until the Argentine’s injury. As per the latest reports, there must be a “miracle” to prevent the reunion, as per Suarez’s manager at Gremio.

The player spent the previous season at Gremio, scoring 23 goals in 48 appearances for the club. Moreover, his contract is set to expire at the end of 2023, and if he chooses not to extend, will see himself join Inter Miami with his former Barcelona teammate. Renato Gaucho said after the game against Bahia:

If he ends up staying, it will be a miracle. He made his decision very clear a few months ago.

However, Suarez has also publicly expressed his desire to join the club owned by David Beckham. Suarez recently netted a 19-minute hat-trick against Botafogo FR. Claims that the Uruguayan is the best striker of this generation have resurfaced, with his potential transfer to Miami causing excitement and anticipation among fans.
