In a recent clip that has taken over football social media, Lionel Messi and Zinedine Zidane have agreed that scoring in a World Cup final is ‘the best feeling ever’. A privilege that both players have had.

Released by Adidas on the 9th of November, the 30-minute video shows Zinedine Zidane and Lionel Messi in conversation with each other where the two spoke on football, family, the World Cup, and the importance of the No. 10 jersey. However, one moment in the video has been making rounds on the internet.

Around the 23-minute mark, Zidane asked the Argentine:

After a short conversation about how scoring in the Champions League is also special, Messi replied:

Yes...Scoring a goal in the World Cup Final I think is the best feeling ever, right? Both of us can say that.

Lionel Messi scored two goals in the 2022 World Cup Final against France, but Zidane outshines with goals in two separate World Cup Finals (1998, 2006). In ’98, Zidane secured a brace in their 3-0 win over Brazil, but in 2006, he faced defeat after being sent off against Italy despite scoring a panenka penalty. Despite these differences, both players achieved a rare feat—winning the World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in the same year. This puts them among the six players in history who share this remarkable accomplishment.

The video, uploaded on Adidas’s YouTube channel has already garnered over 2.3 Million views in 12 hours and has been received well by the audience.

While the two shared their feelings about picking the World Cup final over the Champions League, they also held the privilege of scoring and lifting the Champions League final.

In the 45th minute of the 2002 UCL final, Zinedine Zidane blessed the World with one of the best Champions League final goals with many claiming ‘It is the best goal’. Lionel Messi, who has lifted the Champions League on four occasions has had the privilege of scoring in two finals both coming against Manchester United (2009, 2011).
