Lionel Messi’s latest Instagram post praising Saudi Arabia’s greenery leaves fans confused amidst rumors of Barcelona return
The Argentine is also the tourism ambassador in Saudi Arabia.

Argentinian football legend Lionel Messi took to Instagram to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s natural wonders on Saturday in partnership with Visit Saudi. The Paris Saint-Germain footballer posted a shot of the Kingdom’s date palm groves, with a caption saying: “Who thought Saudi has so much green? I love to explore its unexpected wonders whenever I can.”
The Instagram post came a day after, Barcelona coach Xavi confirmed on Saturday that the Catalan club had been in talks with La Liga over the possibility of bringing back Messi. He will be 36 this summer but is still sought after and will be in contention for an eighth Ballon d’Or later this year after leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar last December.
Messi will have Barcelona and Inter-Miami fans worried that he may continue his career in Saudi Arabia following his latest Instagram post. He has been linked with a move to the Middle East in recent months since long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr. The latest mix will be worrying for fans of Barcelona and Inter Miami, with both teams interested in signing him from PSG when his contract at the French club expires.
The Argentine is an ambassador with Visit Saudi, the tourism ministry’s promotional brand. The ministry is tasked with showcasing Saudi Arabia’s natural and cultural treasures to international and domestic tourists as part of reforms known as Saudi Vision 2030. PSG will face Lorient in Ligue 1 on Sunday marching towards the league title.

LaLiga lists three major conditions Barca must meet to resign Messi

La Liga has given three major conditions to be met before Lionel Messi could return to the club. La Liga president Javier Tebas said this while addressing the potential return of Messi to the Spanish topflight as the 35-year-old’s future has been the talk of the town recently. His current deal at Parc des Princes will expire this summer and reports in Europe are linking him away from Paris with Barcelona a potential destination.
Tebas claimed that Messi’s potential return to Camp Nou is pretty complicated. According to him, the Blaugrana will have to reduce their wage bill, get rid of several players, and also know what Messi would like to be paid before bringing the World Cup winner back to Camp Nou. Tebas said, “If you ask me the question today, Messi’s return to Barça is very complicated.”
“We have to see how that will evolve but several conditions would have to be met. Barça players would have to leave, there would have to be a reduction in wages. And then you have to know what salary Messi would have at Barça.” Xavi and the Barcelona board still remain adamant and confident that their star man could make a sensational return back to Camp Nou.
