Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez has had a reputation as a very inconsistent player. On his good days, he scores for fun and looks ruthless, but on his bad days, he misses the easiest of sitters and goes on long spells without goals. Being given his 13th start of the season against AFC Bournemouth, Nunez had one of those good days.
Deciding to mock him, the Bournemouth fans taunted the Uruguayan by singing “You’re just a sh*t Andy Carrol”. They compared him to former Liverpool striker, Andy Carroll, who shared the same hairstyle as the new Liverpool striker. With only 5 goals in 19 matches, the home fans enjoyed mocking the striker throughout the first half, but then kept quiet in the 2nd half.

Starting the 2nd half with a scoreline of 0-0, Darwin Nunez scored the first goal of the match by slotting the ball past Neto. He once again scored in the 93rd minute, converting a brilliant cross by Alexis Macallister into Liverpool’s 4th goal.
As Nunez scored his brace, the traveling Liverpool fans decided to give it back to the home fans in the Vitality Stadium. Remembering that the fans mocked Nunez by singing “You’re just a sh*t Andy Carroll,” the Liverpool fans started singing the same chant sarcastically.
Liverpool retain spot at the top of the league
Liverpool struggled in the first half, as they only managed 4 shots on goals and only 0.09 xG. All of their goal attempts came from outside the box, with only two being on target. Needing to step up, Jota and Darwin Nunez scored braces as Liverpool won 4-0.

Nunez scored in the 49th minute and finally got Liverpool the lead. Jota doubled the lead in the 70th minute as he slotted the ball in the near post with his right foot. He doubled his goals as he scored just 9 minutes later. A rebound of his shot gave him another chance to score. Nunez finally completed his brace in the 93rd minute.
With this win, they now go five points above Manchester City but have played a game more. The next four matches they play could define their season. On 24th January, they will play Fulham in the League Cup semi-finals, with an aggregate score of 2-1. They then play Norwich City in the FA Cup on 28th January. Then on February 1st and 4th, they will face Chelsea and Arsenal.
