On 10th March, Liverpool hosted Manchester City in a clash that had fans across the world enticed. The hosts were at the top of the league, with City just a point behind. While the match did entertain, Jeremy Doku was on the headlines for the wrong reasons.

The first half was all City, with them dominating. They had created better chances and had more shots on target as well. They finally got the lead in the 23rd minute through a set-piece. Kevin De Bruyne took a free-kick from the right corner, towards the inside post. It found John Stones, who tapped it in.

City kept controlling the game, but the pendulum shifted and Liverpool gained the upper hand. In the 2nd half, they had 12 shots compared to City’s three. Despite their attacking threat, they were unable to get the ball in the net, but Ederson handed the hosts a chance to equalize in the 50th minute.

A misplaced back pass by Nathan Ake got Darwin Nunez after the ball. Ederson charged to win the ball back, but fouled Nunez in the process, with Michael Oliver pointing to the spot. Alexis Mac Allister scored from the spot, equalizing the game. Ederson later came off for Stefan Ortega, injuring himself after fouling Nunez.

While the high-octane game saw both sides getting close to scoring towards the end of the game, a penalty call is what stole the show. In the 98th minute of the game, Doku had attempted to clear the ball from their box. Mac Allister ran in to get the ball, and a mistimed kick from Doku got him.
