Liverpool rejects opening bid of £25 million from Bayern Munich for Sadio Mane: Reports

Liverpool have rejected Bayern Munich’s opening bid for Sadio Mane, with the Bundesliga club offering only half of the price tag the Merseyside have quoted for their talisman.

Mane is expected to leave Anfield this summer having confirmed his desire to move on after six years, with Bayern his most likely destination. However, even though the 30-year-old has just one year left on his contract, Liverpool are not willing to sanction a cut-price deal for a player who scored 23 goals and assisted five in 51 games this season.

Bayern have seen their opening offer for Mane dismissed, with the deal presented guaranteeing only £21 million. Bayern had also offered £4 million in add-ons, but this remains way short of Liverpool’s valuation and understandably has been rejected swiftly.

Why does Sadio Mane wants to leave Liverpool?

Sadio Mané has resolved to leave Liverpool this summer, with Bayern Munich among the clubs hoping to sign the 30-year-old forward. He has been at Anfield since 2016 and feels the time is right for a new experience.

Mané has one year left on his contract and whereas Mohamed Salah, who is in the same situation, has declared that he will stay, the Senegal international intends to tell Liverpool he wants a transfer.

Bayern are Mane’s preferred option having agreed to a 3 year deal with the Bavarian giants. Bayern will have to fill the departing hole left by Robert Lewandowski if his move to Barcelona may have to be sanctioned reluctantly and Mane’s versatility and goal-scoring prowess would certainly be welcomed.
