Liverpool vice-captain, Trent Alexander-Arnold highlighted the team’s chances of winning the Premier League this season, ahead of their match with table-toppers Manchester City. He insisted that the Reds are aiming to challenge for the title, after finishing a dismal 5th last season.

The England international believes that Liverpool can improve upon last season’s performance, which he termed was ‘not good enough’ as Liverpool failed to get a Champions League spot, and feels that the team’s new signings can impact the team positively. The club vice-captain feels that they can challenge 2022-23 champions Manchester City for the title this season.

Jurgen Klopp‘s team has consistently performed well this season, and Trent Alexander-Arnold believes the current Liverpool squad is stronger than the one that won the Premier League in 2020. Despite not making it to the Champions League last season, Liverpool strengthened their midfield by adding new players like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo, all of whom have seamlessly integrated into the team.

The Reds’ vice-captain said:

Our aim as a team is to win the league and that’s the aim again this season. Last season wasn’t good enough.

Alexander-Arnold confidently stated that Liverpool is currently in a really strong position, especially with a certain section of players, including Mohamed Salah, being in the best shape. This has put the Reds ahead of the other Premier League sides like Arsenal and Tottenham, in the race to finish at the top of the table.

Liverpool, under Jurgen Klopp, are serious title contenders this season. Consistent performances and winning most matches have put them in the running. The Reds aim to stay at the top, having last won the Premier League in 2019-20, with Manchester City clinching three consecutive titles since then.

The belief at Liverpool is that a mix of new signings’ quality and experienced players’ determination positions them as strong title challengers. Currently in second place, they’ve won 8 out of 12 matches and performed well in the Europa League. The team’s high spirits indicate a resurgence of enthusiasm lost after the 2019-20 campaign.
