The supporters of Ligue 1 side FC Lorient, popularly known as the Merlus Ultras, dumped 400 kilograms of spoiled fish outside the club’s training ground, showing discontent over the team’s poor performances in the French League this season. Lorient is currently placed 17th in the league table, following a 4-0 loss to rivals, Brest.

The team, which performed well last season securing 10th place under manager Regis Le Bris, is struggling significantly in the league this year. The Brittany-based club currently sits in the relegation zone, just one point ahead of the bottom-ranked Clermont, having only earned 12 points from 17 games, with merely 2 victories. Additionally, they hold one of the poorest goal differences in the league, having conceded an alarming 35 goals so far. Certain key players on the team have been ineffective in their contributions.

The fans dumped the 400-kilo pile of fish in front of the club’s training ground. Accompanying the pungent fish pile was a banner bearing the French phrase ‘Bien Pourri Comme Vous’, which translates to ‘As rotten as you.’ This symbolic act served as an outlet for the fans’ discontent, in addition to a statement shared on the official club website, expressing their profound disappointment.
