Lucas Torro stunned fans across the world after equalizing for Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid. Los Blancos went ahead early on, thanks to Rodrygo, but have been pegged back following Torro’s strike.
Osasuna was on the attack with Lucas Pena, but an overhit cross seemed to have wasted the opportunity. 21-year-old Abdessamad Ezzalzouli recovered the ball from the wing and put it into the D once again. It was deflected out to Torro on the edge of the box, who set himself to hit an excellent strike on the half-volley, through the crowd and into the bottom left corner. There was nothing goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could do apart from looking around in disappointment as he picked the ball up from the back of the net.
Lucas Torro was in the Real Madrid setup for five years, playing for the u19s as well as for Real Madrid Castilla. He left for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018 before returning to Spain with Osasuna in 2020. The 28-year-old has been a constant presence in defensive midfield for them this season, making 28 appearances in La Liga (2053 minutes) and 4 in the Copa del Rey (407 minutes).
The Spaniard could not have picked a better time to score his first goal of the season. His strike brought Osasuna back into the game, and despite Real Madrid’s experience, supporters of the team all around the world will be nervous.

Osasuna attempt to make history

Osasuna is attempting to win the Copa del Rey for the first time since its inception. In 2005, the Pamplona-based club reached the Copa del Rey final, where Real Betis defeated them. They haven’t made much of an impression since and were eliminated in the round of 32 last term.
Los Rojillos have not beaten Real Madrid in any competition since a La Liga encounter in January 2011. They lost 2-0 when the two teams last met in Pamplona in February. However, Arrasate’s team can take encouragement from Los Blancos’ patchy form in recent weeks.
