Luis Rubiales kissing Jenni Hermoso
Andrés Iniesta has had his say on the Rubiales controversy after taking to Twitter. Iniesta has come out against the Spanish FA President stating that his actions were unacceptable and are damaging the image of Spain.
Luis Rubiales’s controversy has taken the football world by storm. Not even 2 weeks in, we see new stories on the subject every day. A plethora of players have had their say on the topic with only Luis Enrique taking a rather neutral stance. Every other person is against Rubiales and his actions. Iniesta is the latest addition to this as he has publicly stated his disgust at Rubiales. As a man with three daughters, Iniesta understands how Jenni Hermoso must have felt. If one of his daughters were up on that stage instead and was publicly humiliated like that after winning a World Cup, Iniesta would have been furious.
“I cannot imagine the feeling that all the players….how they are not talking about the great tournament” continued Iniesta. The Spanish WNT’s achievement has truly gone under the radar. Luis Rubiales’ actions have dirtied the beautiful achievement of the WNT. Iniesta is further embarrassed that they have to put up with this man who publicly humiliated Spanish Football after not resigning and hosting an embarrassing press conference defending his name. He believes that such behaviors left unpunished will damage Spain’s reputation and also their football around the globe.
With rumours circulating that the RFEF will prevent Spanish Teams from participating in Europe if Rubiales is forced to resign, the public embarrassment is yet to stop.
