Inter Miami star Luis Suarez was visibly shocked after his fellow teammate Deigo Gomez missed an open opportunity to score a goal, against Newell’s Old Boys. The goal would have helped Miami secure the match, which otherwise ended in a 1-1 draw.
Inter Miami were up against Argentinean side Newell’s Old Boys, in the last match of their pre-season tour. The match held special significance as it marked a reunion for Miami star Lionel Messi, who began his football career with the Argentinean club before joining Barcelona. The game concluded with a 1-1 draw, with goals from Shanyder Borgelin for Inter Miami and Frano Diaz for Newell’s.
In the 40th minute of the match, the young Paraguayan fired over from close range, but missed the open scoring opportunity. With the scores deadlocked at 0-0, Inter Miami went forward in attack, and Lionel Messi fed a delightful ball to his teammate Diego Gomez.
But instead of guiding his shot on target, Gomez somehow placed his effort well over the bar. Suarez sprawled onto the ground in disbelief and rolled over in agony, while Messi was seen smiling at the unfortunate miss.
Inter Miami faced challenges during their pre-season tour, securing only one victory in eight friendlies. Their sole win was against a Hong Kong XI team, while they suffered five defeats. They are now preparing to play against Real Salt Lake in the MLS next week.
Luis Suarez confirms his plans to retire at Inter Miami!
Uruguayan forward and ex-Barcelona legend Luis Suarez, who joined MLS side Inter Miami on a one-year contract, disclosed his intention to conclude his playing career in the United States. The 37-year-old striker has signed what he considers to be his final contract.
In an interview with Del Sol FM, he conveyed that Inter Miami would be the final club of his career, emphasizing his family’s awareness of this decision. While he had not yet determined the exact date, he was prepared for the final challenge. He emphasized the importance of considering quality of life post-retirement.
Despite his age, the ex-Liverpool forward does not show signs of slowing down, after scoring 29 goals for Gremio last season. Collectively, Suarez has scored 557 goals in 938 matches for club and country, all throughout his career.
