Luis Suarez is no stranger to goals, and unsurprisingly so, has been labelled as one of the best strikers of his generation. In a throwback video of the player, he reveals how he achieved one of the biggest feats in his career – winning the Golden Boot during the Messi-Ronaldo era. Even though the Uruguayan gets a lot of praise for the same, he made sure that Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. got their flowers as well.

Barcelona boasted arguably the best-attacking trio in MSN from 2015 to 2017. The three scored a combined total of 363 goals in 450 games in all competitions, making them the ‘most’ deadly force in European football. Luis Suarez spearheaded the trio and was crowned the European Golden Boot in 2016, beating Cristiano Ronaldo to the same.

He explained in a recent interview with Duda Garbi on YouTube:

In my second year, both Messi and Neymar helped me get the golden boot.

Suarez explained an instance where Messi played Neymar through on goal, but the Brazilian held out for Suarez to arrive. He did so because he was competing with Ronaldo for the Golden Boot. Suarez said:

I won thanks to them...that was the height of our companionship.

The #9 proceeded to score 40 goals for Barcelona that season, 5 more than Cristiano Ronaldo. On receiving the Golden Boot award, he said:

I would've never won this award without my teammates.

His praise for Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. did not end there, as he hoped that any one of the two won the Ballon d’Or that year if it wasn’t for him.
