Luka Modric has played an integral role in Real Madrid’s success in the past year. Signing in 2012, he helped Real Madrid win 5 UEFA Champions Leagues, 3 La Ligas, and 2 Copa del Reys. After 12 years at the club, the Croatian could see his time with Los Blancos end.
In the current season, Modric has often found himself on the bench and then subbed in. In 17 La Liga fixtures, he’s only started 6 times and subbed in 7 times. He’s not played a single match till its completion this season, except for one Champions League fixture.
Unhappy with his role, Carlo Ancelotti is convincing the Croatian he is still part of his plans. Unfortunately, his time at the club is coming close to an end, with Diaro Sports reporting that he would not get a contract extension.
38-year-old Luka Modric had lost his place to younger stars like Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni. With it looking like the club not needing his services for the future, he might aim for an exit in January, but the club wants him to stay till the end of the season.
Where will Luka Modric go?
Many reports claimed that the Ballon d’Or winner had offers from Saudi Arabia to join their league during the 2023 Summer Transfer window. It was confirmed by his agent, who said the player was more focused on his season with Madrid. But he did not rule out the possibility.
Saudi clubs? This summer there was interest in Modric with the aim of signing him. The player has several offers, from a club from the capital and another club. Modric is currently thinking about Real Madrid, but the idea of him moving to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable.Luka Modric’s agent Borja Couce to Shoot!
David Beckham’s Inter Miami was also reported to be interested in getting Modric’s services. The club recently signed Lionel Messi and was looking to bring in more stars to strengthen the team. Unfortunately, this move will not happen unless they release one Designated Player, having reached the limit by employing Leo Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Leonarda Campana.
While Madrid does want Modric to stay till the end of the season, it looks like he’s closer to leaving. With only a few days left for the transfer window to open, Madrid will need a lot of convincing to do.
