Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has signed a new one-year extension with the club. This will reportedly keep him at the club until 2024.

The Croatian legend is still a vital figure at Santiago Bernabeu. He is at the club for the last 12 years and has won 23 trophies during this span of time.

Modric will be an important mentor figure for Real Madrid’s new midfielder such as new signing Jude Bellingham. Modric had stated publicly and privately that he wanted to continue at Real Madrid, despite heavy interest from Saudi Arabia in recent weeks casting doubt on his future. After signing the year long extension, Modric posted a heartfelt message towards the fans. He wrote, “Home Sweet Home. #Modric2024.”

Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and Dan Ceballos are all expected to contend with Modric for a starting slot in Real Madrid’s starting lineup next season.

Last season, Modric made 33 LaLiga appearances as well as 10 Champions League appearances. He started in all six of Madrid’s knockout stage matches on their way to the semifinals.
