Red Devils’ left-back, Luke Shaw has been actively promoting Manchester United to his fellow England national team players. In an interview with talkSPORT, the English international said would enthusiastically welcome Harry Kane and Declan Rice to the club without hesitation.
The Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia on Monday will take place at Manchester United‘s home stadium, Old Trafford. Rumors suggest that the Red Devils are targeting Kane and Rice for a potential transfer.
“I would love a few of them to join – I am not going to lie,” said the United defender. “I am speaking to them, telling them how good Manchester is, because I know their qualities.“
He added, “I know they are world-class players and they would be a massive help to us but I can only say so much. It is up to the club and whatever they decide, so we have to go from there. It is not normally discussed but, because of the time of the season and what is going on, there is a lot of talk, a lot of banter.”
The England national team has been getting ready for their matches at Manchester United’s Carrington training base, and Luke Shaw shared pictures on social media where he can be seen alongside Harry Kane and Declan Rice. Shaw captioned the post as “Carrington tour,”.
Luke Shaw says manager Erik Ten Hag helped him reach another level
The left-back claims that the demanding style of Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s coach, has played a crucial role in enabling him to have one of his finest seasons at the club. Shaw has been one of the team’s most reliable performers throughout the current campaign. He featured in 47 matches across various competitions and contributed with a goal and six assists.
Ten Hag often preferred him over the 27-year-old over club captain Harry Maguire when deploying him in a central role to provide cover for Lisandro Martinez, despite his primary position being a full-back. In this role, he showcased his abilities and made a significant impact. Shaw’s versatility and consistent performances have been highly impressive.
“I think I’ve been settled there for a long time now. Of course this season, the manager has definitely helped me,” he said when asked about his form.
