“Maguire over Tomori? That’s criminal” – Twitter disgusted over England’s 26-man squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup

“Maguire over Tomori? That’s criminal” – Twitter disgusted over England’s 26-man squad for 2022 FIFA World Cup

Along with Callum Wilson of Newcastle, Leicester midfielder James Maddison is a member of Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England team for the 2022 World Cup. Both players are called up for the tournament in Qatar, which starts on November 20, despite neither having played for England since 2019.

There is no space in Gareth Southgate’s Qatar selection for Roma striker Tammy Abraham, Brentford frontman Ivan Toney or West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen. Manchester City pair Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are included despite a lack of match fitness, while Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been named in the squad despite his limited game time.

Ben White has won a place in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, it can be revealed. Arsenal defender White, 25, has won four caps for his country. He was named in England’s squad for Euro 2020 as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold after the Liverpool right-back sustained an injury but he did not make an appearance during the tournament.
