Following the PFA award ceremony last Tuesday, Manchester City midfielder Rodri had a hilarious answer leaving Netizens speechless while also commending the Spaniard’s quick humour. Manchester City had a magnanimous presence in the PFA Team of the Year, winning 5 out of a total of 11 spots, with the likes of Erling Haaland, Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne, John Stones, and Ruben Dias.

During the TOTY award ceremony, the reporter asked Rodri about his goal in the Champions League final. While talking of his final heroics and how they (City) were going to recreate their success this season, Rodri took a dig at striker Erling Haaland. The Spaniard replied, “Sometimes Erling doesn’t do his job,” and the audience erupted in laughter.

While Haaland as well as his teammates laughed it off, Netizens on Twitter have trolled the Norwegian for drawing blanks in important games. The Manchester City number 9 has been unable to find the net in the Community Shield, FA Cup as well and Champions League finals.

Erling Haaland won PFA Player of the Year as well, while falling to Bukayo Saka in the Young Player of the Year Award. Netizens have made the most out of Rodri’s comments, claiming that the Spaniard has put up exceptional performances in the Champions League, scoring important goals in the final, semis against Real, and against Bayern Munich in the quarter-final.

Haaland however, has backed up his ‘poor’ ratings in finals with his otherwise stellar goalscoring form, winning the PFA POTY and scoring 6 goals in 4 games this season in the league so far. The player also bagged a hat-trick against Fulham on Saturday and is top scorer of the League.

Manchester City saw off Fulham in spectacular fashion as the Cityzens won the game 5-1. Haaland assisted Julian Alvarez to open the scoring for City in the 31st minute but their joy was short-lived when Fulham equalized just minutes later through Tim Ream. Nathan Aké restored the lead for Pep’s side in stoppage time in the first half before Erling Haaland scored a second-half hat-trick to see off the Cottagers in spectacular fashion.

After slotting home a pinpoint pass from Alvarez, Haaland scored a blistering penalty to hit his brace. Later, the Norwegian deftly found space in the middle of the 18-yard box and found Sergio Gomez’s grounded cross to slot home for his hat-trick in the 5th minute of stoppage time.

The hat trick saw Haaland become the top-scorer of the Premier League with 6 goals in 4 league games. City face West Ham after the international break.
