The jury in the trial of Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy and his co-accused Louis Saha Matturie has been tasked with making a decision. The two men are charged with several sexual assaults against female victims, which they both deny. This trial has been ongoing at Chester Crown Court since the 10th of August.

Judge Steven Everett, the Recorder of Chester, informed the jury consisting of eight males and four females that if they had not decided by the end of the week when the court is not in session on Friday or the following week, they would need to reconvene on December 19 to further deliberate. Prosecutors allege that Mendy was a dangerous individual who preyed on young women, raping or sexually assaulting them at his lavish £ 4.7 million home, The Spinney, located in the Prestbury area of Cheshire.

It is suggested that Mattie was a close confidante of the player who allegedly organized for females to come to the gatherings after nights out consuming alcoholic beverages in exclusive bars in Manchester. Thirteen females have accused Mendy of committing sexual offenses. Mendy has refuted the accusations of seven counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault that have been made against him by six young women.

Pep Guardiola has stated that Benjamin Mendy, who is facing a rape accusation, is a “really good boy”

Pep Guardiola and Benjamin Mendy

Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, testified in court that Benjamin Mendy was “a really good boy”. Mendy, 28, pleads not guilty to seven counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault against six young women. Guardiola confirmed that Mendy was highly regarded, but he did not know how he spent his downtime. “I’m not his father,” he told the jury.

Under questioning from the defense attorney, Mr. Guardiola revealed that he did not know what Mr. Mendy did in his free time due to his lack of involvement in social media. He also stated that he could not keep track of all 22 players in the club’s first-team squad- he was only concerned with Mr. Mendy as a player.

Mendy had earlier testified that he breached Covid-19 guidelines multiple times by hosting social events at his home in Prestbury, Cheshire. Mr Guardiola testified via videolink and acknowledged that he was aware of the situation and had talked to the player. He noted that Mendy accepted his mistake and admitted he had done wrong.
