Manchester City unveils a statue of Sergio Aguero outside the Etihad Stadium on the 10th anniversary of his title-winning goal
Manchester City recently showed a nice gesture towards one of their legends Sergio Aguero after they unveiled his iconic statue outside the great Etihad Stadium and the 93:20 moment as they celebrate his Premier League title-winning goal ten years ago.
The Argentine forward scored one of the iconic goals to ensure City’s first-ever EPL title victory in the 2011/12 season under manager Manuel Pelligrini. The statute of Aguero is the third after David Silva and Vincent Kompany’s status already situated commemorating a defining era of the club.
The statue is located on the east side of the Etihad Stadium and is built by an award-winning sculptor, Andy Scott who made the sculpture using thousand of welded pieces of galvanized steel. On the 10th anniversary of the club’s special moment of winning the first title, the club decided to light the statues of the three legends with significant blue-tinted lights.
The club legend Aguero commented in delight on the installation of his statue and the club’s success and his contribution to it makes him feel very special. He added that had achieved many trophies during his time in Manchester and helped them to be recognized as one of the best football clubs in the world.
Sergio Aguero said, “Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me, to see myself 10 years ago is very moving. In those 10 years, I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the Club become one of the most important in the world. I am very grateful to the Club for making this statue in recognition of my football career in Manchester. It is something very special.”

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak’s remarks on Sergio Aguero’s statue
Manchester City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealed that Aguero’s goal on that day helped them with their first-ever title clinch and he made the fans feel proud the iconic 93:20 moment was very special to the club. Aguero has scored 260 goals during his time at the club which demonstrates the legacy and impact he had on the club’s success.
He said, “Sergio Aguero’s contribution to Manchester City in a defining era for the Club cannot be overstated. He is, without doubt, one of the greatest players that have ever played the game.”
