Manchester City Academy starlet Rico Lewis will reportedly get a 400 per cent hike in his current salary after his breakthrough season with the first team. Pep Guardiola, who speaks highly of the young full-back, has offered him a 5-year contract and will get a mammoth increase in his current salary. He currently earns a reported £5,000 a week and will be earning £25,000 once he signs the deal. The Academy product made his debut for City’s first team in August where he scored a goal against Sevilla in the Champions League. He became Manchester City’s youngest-ever goal scorer in the competition during their 3-1 victory.
Rico Lewis joined City’s academy when he was just 8 years old, rapidly developing into a fine player. Since his promotion to the first team, he has taken the solid competition to City’s more experienced full-backs Kyler Walker and ex-City player Joao Cancelo. The 18-year-old wonderkid displayed a key role in City’s playmaking role as he moved further into the midfield. He has currently 16 appearances for Manchester City this season.
Pep Guardiola even compared the starlet to the Bayern Munich legend Philipp Lahm. The Manchester City manager had coached Philipp Lahm during his stint at Bayern Munich. “He has this ability and it’s not easy to find it. He is our little Philipp Lahm. There are players who play for themselves really well, but he has the ability to make all the team play better,” he added, after their 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Manchester City shocking transfer of Joao Cancelo after Rico Lewis’ sensational performance
Manchester City fans were shocked after their star full-back signed a loan deal with German giants Bayern Munich till the end of the season. With other sources stated that his relationship with Pep Guardiola had taken a dark turn, as he fell out of the squad.
