Pep Guardiola talks about his appearance in Ted Lasso
Pep Guardiola recently talked about his appearance in the latest episode of the American TV show ‘Ted Lasso.’ Manchester City manager was Ted Lasso’s opposite number in a recent episode. In the episode, the fictional team AFC Richmond made the trip to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City. At the end of the game, the two managers have a brief conversation on the touchline to congratulate each other on a hard-fought match.
Guardiola praises Lasso and imparts some of the wisdom he has accumulated during his glittering managerial career. The Catalan has now revealed how the motivation for getting involved in the program came from his wife and daughter.
In the latest interview, while talking about his appearance, Guardiola said, “As a family, we are big fans. My daughter Valentina and my wife enjoy the show a lot, especially the first season. When they ask me for a cameo I said ‘why not?’. I could meet the actors and after one of the last games at the Etihad they came and we talked again. It was nice.”
Guardiola has guided the club to five of the last six Premier League titles. He will compete in his second FA Cup and Champions League finals as Manchester City boss next month. Talking about his team’s performance, Guardiola said, “We are so proud. To come to make people around the world know more about who we are. These are little steps to show how the club works and who we were in the past.”

Manchester City have reportedly set their price tag for Joao Cancelo ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. After seeing the full-back join Bayern Munich on loan back in January, Man City has a decision to make regarding the player and what his next step will be in the summer. Afte Cancelo was linked with a move to Barcelona in recent days, and some extra behind-the-scenes details have emerged on the situation.
According to a recent report, Man City will only look to get rid of Cancelo on a permanent basis this summer, rather than potentially sending him out on another loan deal. The club will ask for €40m to sell him.
Back in 2019, Man City sealed a £60m deal to sign the Portuguese international from Juventus. Cancelo, till now has made, 154 appearances for the club across all competitions. He has scored nine goals and provided 22 assists in the process.
With reports of strained relations between Cancelo and Pep Guardiola prior to his move to Germany, in addition to this claim suggesting City is willing to potentially cash in on the player for the reported price. This doesn’t make the defender’s chances of playing for the club again look particularly good.
Guardiola previously lauded the 28-year-old for his “incredible” form. But it seems unlikely that the Man-City boss would want Cancelo back in the squad if he has doubts over his attitude, particularly when it comes to his playing time or lack thereof.
