Manchester United footballer Antony is facing serious allegations of physical and emotional abuse from his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin. In a recent interview with Brazilian website UOL, Cavallin recounted a series of distressing incidents between June 2022 and May 2023. These allegations include threats of violence, intimidation, and physical assaults.
One of the most alarming claims is that Antony threatened to throw Cavallin out of a moving vehicle while she was pregnant, resulting in a miscarriage. On January 15, 2023, Cavallin alleges Antony head-butted and punched her, causing damage to a silicone breast implant that necessitated surgical correction. She asserts that Antony attempted to downplay the incident as an accident.
Another troubling episode unfolded on May 8, 2023, during which Cavallin claims Antony locked her inside their house, leading to a severe cut on her finger during a heated altercation. These allegations have triggered investigations by both Brazilian and Greater Manchester Police. Antony has vehemently denied these accusations. Earlier, he expressed confidence that his innocence would be proven once the investigation concludes.
In response to the allegations, the Brazilian Football Confederation announced that Antony had been removed from the national team squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus called up as his replacement. This unsettling case has raised important questions about professional athletes’ off-field behavior and responsibilities. Manchester United has yet to comment on the allegations and clear their stance.
