Manchester United are expected to bid for Moroccan International Sofyan Amrabat as Erik ten Hag aims to resolve the midfield issue. Updates were made that a potential transfer of Van de Beek away from the club could make the deal possible.
Amarabat has already given United the ‘yes’ since June. Apparently being told he no longer fits the ‘club system’, Fiorentina has set an asking price of €30m. Manchester United have been eyeing Amrabat since the transfer window began. With Fred‘s departure to Fenerbahçe and a potential move away for Van de Beek, Erik ten Hag believes that the midfield signing will only push the club forward.
Furthermore, fans believe that Amrabat would be an immediate starter at the club over Mason Mount because the English midfielder has found it hard to settle at his new club. Many have also stated that Amrabat’s physical capabilities will only assist Casemiro who needs legs around him in the midfield.
As Manchester United’s woes begin with horrible performances in their opening two fixtures, ten Hag will be hoping for a change, and the signing of Amrabat could be one of them. So, the Dutch manager will be hoping that the deal could go through soon if they are to regain their momentum.
Manchester United’s rocky start
Manchester United have managed to pick up just 3 points out of the available 6 in the new season so far. While it’s not the worst start, the manner in which they played the two games is a cause for concern. In their first game against Wolves, United were fortunate to grab a win after a header by Varane. Many fans hoped that this was a one-off game and a such a dull performance would not be repeated.
However, in their next fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, they were left stunned by the Londoners. Squandering chance after chance in the first half, Manchester United were run over by Spurs in the second half. Bissouma dominated the midfield alongside Pepe Sarr as the Lillywhites scored twice ending the game 2-0 in their favour. Once again the fans complained about the same thing- their non-existent midfield and lack of attacking threat.
Manchester United play at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest on the 26th of August. Forest who are currently ahead of United in the table will be salivating their lips if the Red Devils are to repeat their performances of the first two games.
