Less than a week after suffering a similar punishment against Newcastle, Manchester United has been hit with yet another FA charge for failing to manage their players during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea. At Stamford Bridge, Casemiro’s 94th-minute equalizer saved a point for the Red Devils, who had trailed ten minutes earlier following Scott McTominay’s penalty for bringing down Armando Broja in the box.

The Manchester United players violently surrounded referee Stuart Atwell after giving up the penalty kick. The FA released the following statement on Wednesday: ”Manchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 after its fixture versus Chelsea FC on Saturday 22 October 2022 in the Premier League.

”Manchester United allegedly failed to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the 84th minute, and the club has until Friday 28 October 2022 to provide a response.”

After their 0-0 draw with Newcastle eight days prior, the Red Devils were given a similar punishment. When a few of Manchester United’s enraged stars surrounded referee Craig Pawson in the 49th minute after he disallowed a goal scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, the governing body claimed that Manchester United failed to control its players.

Manchester United’s goal against Chelsea was pretty dramatic

Much of the discussion surrounding United’s game was focused on Cristiano Ronaldo and his choice to abandon his teammates for the second game in a row. Roy Keane oddly chose to support the United striker despite the fact that if he had been the captain or manager of a side, he would have killed anyone trying to do so.

On the field, though, his colleagues were forced to play without the five-time Ballon d’Or winner since Erik ten Hag disqualified him by leaving him off the team to play Chelsea. Although that choice was understandable, it appeared that it may have backfired when Marcus Rashford and Antony both squandered opportunities that Ronaldo, at least when in good form, would have been expected to convert.

Ten Hag’s team had controlled much of the first half before falling behind late at Stamford Bridge during a much more balanced second half. When Jorginho converted a penalty after Scott McTominay fouled Armando Broja in the 87th minute, it appeared that he had earned all three points.

To make it 1-1, Casemiro leapt at a cross from Luke Shaw in the last seconds and managed to head the ball over Kepa and just past the goal line. Drury’s words added even more charm to a dramatic finish to a game that had sometimes been lacking in quality in the last third.
