Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood is expected to be reintroduced to the club for the first time since his arrest in January 2022. Videos and audio of his abuse made headlines when they were shared via his girlfriend’s social media account. Many condemned the young forward. Now, a similar situation has come to light as the employees have threatened to go on strike if the club reinstates the player back into the squad.
Mason Greenwood was initially charged on the basis of evidence released on social media showcasing domestic abuse and signs of rape. The Crown Prosecution Service however was forced to drop the charges, in February, after a key witness no longer wanted any involvement. However, no one with a pair of eyes and ears believes so. Since the evidence was made public the youngster has been accused of committing violence against her partner.
The news of a possible return of Mason Greenwood has torn the club. Many staff members have voiced their dismay and are incredibly shocked that the club would even consider his return. Some of them have considered going on a strike, while others have even considered quitting their jobs. Manchester United‘s handling of this case has been one of shame.
Greenwood’s possible return has raised heated debates all over the internet. While some believe he can be forgiven and has a place in the club, other fans see it as an utter shame that a club like United can even think of such a thing. This brings a question: will Manchester United’s status as a club be harmed if Greenwood is to return? Fans eagerly await the conclusion to this saga.
Mason Greenwood- another football player to be caught up in the spiral?

Do football players get a pass for their crimes because of their fame? Benjamin Mendy was initially accused of 4 counts of r*pe. By the end of the case, it was 8. Robinho was charged with group sexual assault. On a massive scale, Greenwood is not the first football player to be caught up in a case like that, and sadly, he won’t be the last! Cristiano Ronaldo, Quincy Promes, and even the current Manchester United player, Antony, recently has come into the radar for similar charges.
Out of all the names mentioned, Robinho is the only one still in custody at the time of speaking. Maradona was/is fondly remembered even being spoken about by Lionel Messi after winning the FIFA World Cup. Benjamin Mendy is now playing in France for Lorient.
Football is a sport full of beautiful stories. Stories of players who made it out of terrible conditions to now having their names cheered by millions. Some of the people’s best memories are seeing their club achieve greatness. Watching their country liven up the World Cup. But there is a side of the sport less spoken about. And some of the stories of this side will never see the light of the day.
