Erik ten Hag and Manchester United feel like a match made in heaven that went horribly wrong. The former Ajax manager, after being brought in to fix the state of affairs at the clubs, finds himself having to deal with more and more problems with each passing matchday. His side’s most recent outing in the Premier League ended in defeat, with Manchester City beating the Red Devils by three goals to one.
27 games into the Premier League season, United sit at an unimpressive sixth spot and are 11 points away from the top four. Having already been eliminated from the Champions League, United’s only hope of a trophy is the FA Cup, in which they have been drawn against Liverpool. With yet another unconvincing display from his side against City, fans have seemingly had enough.
Many have called for the manager to be sacked, as fans demand an immediate removal of the manager. The loss comes days after former Arsenal and Chelsea man Cesc Fabregas‘ brutal analysis of the manager.
With the United crowd finally turning against the manager, Ten Hag may very well be on his way out of the club. The Red Devils take on Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Fans call for Erik ten Hag’s sacking as United fail to impress in Manchester derby
Manchester City got the better of their rivals yet again as Erik ten Hag failed to muster a response from his men in the second half. United’s second half collapse made a fan comment that he had lost all hope in the club seeing the club’s performance under the Dutchman. Another added that it was very clear that the man has no clue how to manage the team.
One fan who was distressed by the result was unable to make up his mind on whether he was Ten Hag in or Ten Hag out while refereeing to his sacking. He further wrote, “Tired of this a**“.
Others laughed at how Ten Hag’s comment of losing against City by ‘fine’ margins was the most delusional thing they’ve heard. Others slammed the Dutchman’s claim that United put up a ‘good’ performance.
Check out that and some other top reactions regarding this development from X below:
Stats revealed that Jose Mourinho‘s numbers were much better compared to Ten Hag’s (28 losses in 144 games compared to the latter’s 100). Rival fans mocked Ten Hag, saying that the club should give him more time so that they can witness more humiliating performances like the one on Sunday. Manchester City showed once again that they won’t rest till they defend their title. Manchester United on the other hand, look like a shadow of their former, confident self.
