Manchester United on the verge of making a £40million bid for Arsenal’s Lisandro Martinez: Reports

According to a recent source, Manchester United is apparently planning a £40 million bid to capture Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, which would scuttle an existing agreement that Arsenal is trying to reach.
United has reportedly expressed interest in Martinez, and it is believed that with the help of Erik Ten Hag, United would be able to complete the acquisition.
According to reports, Arsenal has already made two attempts to sign the player, and only just submitted Ajax an upgraded offer. The Argentine would be a strong addition to United’s roster after playing a crucial part in Ten Hag’s title-winning team at Ajax last season.

Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United?

Since joining them from Defensa y Justicia in 2019, he has made more than 100 outings for the Eredivise champions, showcasing his flexibility by playing in four different positions.
Despite being only 5 feet 9 inches tall, he primarily played center defense last season but can also play left back, right back, and defensive midfield. He worked with him while he was living in the Netherlands, and new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag seemed eager to reconnect with him at Old Trafford.
Together, they have won back-to-back championships, and the Dutch manager is reportedly a huge fan of the adaptable 24-year-old. When news broke that left-back Nicolas Tagliafico was on the verge of leaving Ajax two years ago, Ten Hag emphasized his versatility.
The new United manager declared: “I’ll give Lisandro Martinez a go in that position as a practice run. He is a defender, although he has played in midfield for us.”
He said, “I feel Lisandro Martinez to be a terrific player; in fact, he is starting material. For this reason, I communicate with him frequently. But he faces stiff competition from Ryan Gravenberch, Daley Blind, and Tagliafico. There are only 11 players I can start.”
