Mason Greenwood is expected to miss the rest of the season as Manchester United conducts its own inquiry. In January 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, controlling behavior, and assault.

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed earlier this month that the charges would be dropped after ‘key witnesses’ withdrew their engagement. Manchester United stated on social media after the charges were dismissed, “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining the next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”

According to The Athletic, the women supporters of Manchester United did not want Greenwood to remain with the club. Greenwood was regarded as one of the most skilled players in all of Europe and had the world at his feet. United will make every effort to finish the investigation as quickly as feasible.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag recently called Mason Greenwood after the charges were dropped due to a lack of a vital witness. He phoned to check on his overall wellness.

Greenwood was accused of rape, domineering conduct, and violence against his girlfriend, Harriet Robinson. He was arrested in January 2022, but the allegations against him were dismissed earlier this month. Erik Ten Hag was “pleased” that all charges were dismissed, according to The Sun. He called him to keep a check on his mental and physical condition.

Nike terminated his contract following the event, and several prominent personalities unfollowed him on social media. Greenwood scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for Manchester United; he played his last game against West Ham in January 2022.
