Manchester United have come under harsh criticism for their recent form, poor management, and internal conflict among players and staff. The club has been in disarray for a long time running and poor results have accentuated the situation. As if unable to escape their worries, the club have found themselves in a fix, after an incident about the funeral ceremony of Sir Bobby Charlton.

The Manchester United legend passed away on the 21st of October, after fighting lung illness and dementia. The club’s current ownership, the Glazers, have come under severe scrutiny for opting to stay out of the United legend’s service held at Manchester Cathedral on Monday. Even though the management have tried to justify their absence, fans on social media have hit out against the decision.

Supporters have labeled the incident as ‘shameful’, pointing to the club’s lack of empathy towards the club. Manchester United did not make a public statement following the passing of Lady Cathy Ferguson as well.

Supporters react to the club’s “no-show” at Sir Bobby Charlton’s service

Following the club’s reluctance to attend the Legend’s service, supporters and protest groups have expressed their distaste. Moreover, a protest group called ‘the 1985’ commented on the incident.

The organization said:

It is no real surprise that no one from the Glazers family bothered to pay their respects to our greatest player ever.

They also slammed the club for being “alienated” from the club and fan base. The 1985 said:

It is our opinion that they view the club as a cash cow.

In a brutal comment, they added that the Glazers are not fit to be the owners of Man United. The organization also blamed the ownership for not stating Lady Cathy’s passing as well.

Manchester bid farewell to the legend, as thousands gathered in the streets of the city. A guard of honor was given to the legend by the Under-18 and Under-21 squads. Several footballers, managers, and retired professionals attended the ceremony. Sir Alex Ferguson, Gareth Southgate, and Bryan Robson are just to name a few. Sir Bobby Charlton is arguably the best player in Manchester United’s history.
