Manchester United‘s problems have gone from bad to worse. The Red Devils were dealt a shocking 3-0 loss at home in the EFL Cup on Thursday. The defending champions were knocked out by Newcastle United in a replay of last year’s final. Eddie Howe‘s side took revenge for last year, which has left Old Trafford in a mess. Goals from Miguel Almirón, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock helped Newcastle demolish United three goals to nil.

While the scoreline was enough humiliation, for one, the traveling fans had other ideas. The traveling fans filled Old Trafford with sarcastic chants aimed at both the iconic ‘home ground’ of United, as well as their current manager Erik ten Hag.

The Magpies were on the front foot for the majority of the game and took the lead through a brilliant counter-attack, finished off by Miguel Almirón. Valentino Livramento caught United in possession before carrying the ball the entire length of the pitch. His pass was brilliantly finished off by the Paraguayan forward.

8 minutes later, United were dealt the second blow through Lewis Hall. His unexpected volley caught United off-guard, as the ball hit the side netting. However, the home side came close through Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot before the game was finished off by Joe Willock.

Sofyan Amrabat was caught in possession in midfield before Willock dribbled past the defense and unleashed a shot from the edge of the box. His strike eluded Onana’s grasp and went into the bottom right corner.

Fans react to Manchester United’s misery

A second consecutive 3-0 loss at Old Trafford meant warning signs for Erik ten Hag and United. Already eliminated from the EFL Cup and third in their Champions League group, United are starting to feel the pressure. Subsequently, fans on Twitter wasted no time, as trolls started pouring in from all sides.

Here are some of the reactions to Manchester United’s poor performance:

“Glazers staying 10 more years, Geordie Boys are on the beers,” sang the crowd during the game. A fan commented, “Theatre of dreams. Now keep dreaming of winning there.”

Meanwhile, some fans have also called for Ten Hag to be sacked highlighting that he is the major part of the problem. However, a few supporters urged the rest to trust the process, but the majority accept that the club is in a shambles.
