Manchester United to offer Donny Van De Beek in swap deal to strengthen the midfield: Reports
Donny Van de Beek will be made available by Manchester United in exchange for AC Milan player Ismael Bennacer.
The 2020 signing of the Dutch midfielder from Ajax could not live up to the expectations that were placed on him. For the second part of the 21/22 season, he was loaned out to Everton, although he once more struggled to get consistent playing time.
Since his comeback, Van de Beek has played in both of United’s preseason games for new manager Erik ten Hag. But it seems more and more probable that his tenure at Old Trafford may be coming to an end.
Ismael Bennacer to Manchester United?
Van de Beek has reportedly been involved in a prospective trade for Milan’s Algerian midfielder Bennacer, reports the Italian news site Calcio Mercato. Any agreement to entice the player away from Italy will not be cheap because he was an important component of the Milan team that won the Serie A championship.
According to the Calcio Mercato source, the San Siro side valued Bennacer at around €45 million. United is attempting to cut the asking price by include Van de Beek in the transaction.
During his time at Milan, the 24-year-old has been characterized as a deep-lying playmaker, a player who possesses the skills that United are in dire need of. If United is unable to finalize a deal for Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona, the Algerian may be the ideal backup. United and Barcelona have agreed on a $63.6 million base transfer price with an additional $8.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
De Jong hasn’t shown a wish to leave the Catalan club, despite the agreement between both teams. The 25-year-old, who had called his transfer to the Camp Nou his “dream move,” is thought to be content at Barcelona.
Ten Hag reportedly wants De Jong to join him at Old Trafford more than anything, but if the player is unwilling to transfer, Ten Hag will need to consider his other options.
Tyrell Malacia at left back, Christian Eriksen at midfield, and Lisandro Martinez at center back have all been successfully added to the United squad thus far. The club is now in Australia in preparation for their next preseason encounter on Tuesday against Crystal Palace of the Premier League.
