Manchester United, Tottenham, or Arsenal: Who is most likely to finish inside the top 4 in the Premier League 2021-22?
Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham, look to get a place in the fourth position with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea almost securing the top three spots. English Premier League is on its business end of the season without knowing who can lift the trophy with both Liverpool and Manchester City having a chance of winning. Chelsea(66) sits at the third spot, currently six points ahead of the fourth team, Arsenal(60). Tottenham is fifth with 58 points in 33 games and Manchester United is in the sixth spot with 55 points.
Arsenal and Tottenham could secure the fourth spot with both teams having five games left in their fixture. Arteta’s gunners are ahead with a two-point lead from Spurs. Manchester United’s dream might have been shattered as they only have two wins in their last 11 matches which made them lose a huge amount of points. The Red Devils are left with just three games winning which could get them a total of 64 points which won’t be enough to make them secure the 4th spot.
Arsenal and Tottenham go neck-to-neck with any of the two dropping any points would be fruitful for the other. If Arsenal wins their remaining five games they will secure the fourth spot, and if Arsenal drops points Tottenham has to capitalize on all of their remaining matches. The equation is not that uncertain but both teams would be under pressure of losing points.
Manchester United could only qualify if they win all their matches and both Arsenal and Tottenham lose most of their remaining matches. Arsenal would have to lose at least 4 out of 5 and Spurs at least 3 out of 5 matches. So practically, the Red Devils are out of the race which leaves Arsenal and Tottenham, as top contenders for the 4th place.
Remaining Fixtures of the three clubs- Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United
Arsenal will play three away games against West Ham, Tottenham, and Newcastle United; and two home matches against Leeds and Everton. Thus, it looks that Arsenal is most likely to secure the 4th spot.
Tottenham has a busy fixture ahead but has an advantage as they play 3 out of 5 games at home against Leicester, Arsenal, and Burnley; two away matches against Liverpool and Norwich. Tottenham has to be lucky to secure fourth place.
Manchester United will play the next match against Brentford at home and the other two matches against Brighton and Crystal Palace away from home. The Red Devils can only expect that something miraculous happens to gift them the fourth position.
