“The big team advanced,” Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho mocks Barcelona following recent Europa League victory

Manchester United played Barcelona in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League playoffs on Thursday. The match ended in a 2-1 comeback win for Manchester United, as they eliminated Barca out of the league. Manchester United’s young gun Alejandro Garnacho ruthlessly mocked Barcelona midfielder Pedri, as he mimicked Pedri’s celebration after the full-time. Garnacho did not just stop there, as he took to Instagram to mock Xavi’s side further, stating that the ‘big’ team progressed to the next round.
The Red Devils knocked out Barcelona to progress into the Round-of-16 of the Europa League after securing a 2-1 win (4-3 on aggregate) in Old Trafford. The second leg of the tie was a thriller, with plenty of controversies happening in and after the game. Barcelona scored the first goal through a Robert Lewandowski penalty. The penalty decision by the referee was slammed after fans objected to the foul. Fred and Antony turned the game around, scoring in the second half to secure the victory.
Alejandro Garnacho, came on in the 67th minute, replacing Jadon Sancho. He was looking confident and lively throughout the match. Garnacho was seen mocking Pedri as he imitated the Spanish midfielder’s binocular celebration by placing his hands on his eyes. “The big team advanced to the next round.” Garnacho hit at Barcelona, as he posted the celebration with the caption on his Instagram.

Manchester United defeated Barcelona in a 2-1 crunching match in the second leg of the Europa League playoffs on Thursday. Manchester United showed their world-class ability, as they came back from a 1-0 score in the first half, to turn the game around, scoring two goals in the second half. After the game, manager Erik Ten Hag praised United, expressing his belief in the squad.
“When you can beat Barcelona, one of the best teams at this moment in Europe then your belief can be really strong then you are able to beat anyone,” Ten Hag hailed Manchester United in a post-match interview. “When you [as Barca] are eight points ahead of Real Madrid in La Liga and you beat Real Madrid in the Super Cup 1-3 and we have seen Real Madrid playing against Liverpool this week [winning 5-2] and you beat a really good opponent, we have the potential to beat all good teams.”
Meanwhile, the Red Devils play Newcastle United in their upcoming League Cup final on Sunday. Ten Hag’s side sits in the third position in the Premier League Table, 3 points behind city rivals Manchester City. A victory against Newcastle will see them lift the first silverware since their 2017 Europa League triumph. Manchester United is the only team in Europe that is still competing in all four competitions.
