Ever since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos purchased a 25% stake in Manchester United, many rumors about the club started floating around. One of them was regarding Erik ten Hag’s position in the club. With the clubs struggling in the league and being knocked out of the Champions League, many sources reported Ten Hag was all set to be sacked.
United have lost 8 out of 19 Premier League matches, finished last in their Champions League group, and were knocked out of the League Cup. With a string of poor performances and reports of him losing the dressing room, it looked like the Dutch manager was all set to lose his job. But Ten Hag has assured that he has the backing of the new owners.
Ten Hag has not met Sir Ratcliffe yet but is confident Ineos wants to work with him and vice versa. He has been assured that they would work with him in the same structure and are looking to build a winning culture in the club. Meanwhile, way back in October, it was reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe might hire Graham Potter due to a poor spell of United back then.
We are looking really forward to work together. We want to work with each other, it’s very positive. We will have conversations, meetings. INEOS wants to work with me in this structure, it looks good”. Here we always want to win, it doesn’t matter who is the leader. We are appointed here in this are — we need a winning culture no matter who is in the lead, no matter who is the owner. But owners can inspire you.Erik ten Hag said in the press conference
Manchester United recently completed a comeback against Aston Villa, winning the game despite being 2-0 down. They will now play Nottingham Forest on 30th December, their last game of 2023.
Who is Sir Dave Brailsford, the new rumored Sporting Director for Manchester United?
As United managed to complete a great comeback against Aston Villa, the cameras in the stadium kept panning to one man, Sir Dave Brailsford. Sir Brailsford is Ineos’ director of sports, who used to be a cyclist. He coached Great Britain’s cycling team, before joining Team Sky.
Sir Brailsford had a huge role with the cycling team, being promoted to the team’s sporting director. After Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased the team, Sir Brailsford was appointed as the Director of Sports. He oversaw Team Ineos, F1 (Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team) and OGC Nice.
Now with the firm purchasing Manchester United, there are reports of Ratcliffe hiring Sir Brailsford as the new Director of Football for Manchester United, replacing John Murtagh.
