Sir Alex Ferguson has arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex, where Cristiano Ronaldo is preparing for crunch talks with new manager Erik ten Hag about his future. It is unclear whether the legendary United manager will attend the meeting after Ronaldo shocked the club by announcing his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer and join a Champions League team.
Ronaldo has yet to train with the Red Devils this summer, and he was unable to join his teammates on their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to personal commitments. On Tuesday, he arrived at Carrington with his agent, Jorge Mendes, at 11 a.m.
Ferguson was instrumental in convincing Ronaldo to reject rivals Manchester City in favour of a fairytale return to United last summer. Ronaldo was expected to join Pep Guardiola’s side after leaving Juventus, but Ferguson called him at the last minute and persuaded him to reconsider.
After signing for Manchester United last summer, he told the club website “We keep in touch all the time, and he’s an unbelievable person. I really like him a lot and he was the main key for me to be in the position that I am, that I signed for Manchester United.”

Ferguson, on the other hand, has previous experience negotiating with Ronaldo, having initially blocked his departure from Manchester United to join Real Madrid in 2008 before later sanctioning the deal.
