Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford took to Instagram while viewing Newcastle vs. Liverpool. The Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, seemed to make a motion that caught the eye of Rashford, which he then posted on his story.

Liverpool after spending the majority of the game 0-1 down with 10 men on the pitch, equalized through Darwin Núñez in the dying stages of the match. Jurgen Klopp at that moment seemed to make a motion similar to Marcus Rashford’s trademark celebration. Caught by the Englishman, the player wasted no time, immediately took a photo, and shared the screenshot on Instagram.

The celebration which is meant to signify ‘mentality’ has been used by Marcus Rashford since last season when the forward was on fire for the Red Devils. The motion apparently worked as Jurgen Klopp’s men came out 2-1 winners at St. James’ Park.

Marcus Rashford’s celebration has already caught the eye of the football world. Joshua Kimmich replicated the celebration after scoring an incredible goal for Bayern last season. Tammy Abraham gave credit to his English compatriot, tagging Marcus on Instagram after celebrating the goal. Ex-Man Utd player, Danny Welbeck also did the exact same celebration, tagging him on Twitter (now X) to which Rashford responded.

A more famous or infamous use of the celebration came against Marcus Rashford himself after Bukayo Saka scored an incredible goal against United and copied his England teammate’s celebration. With many others already taking a liking to the celebration, Manchester United fans will hope to see their own player utilize it multiple times when he scores for United.

Ever since the Saudis took over Newcastle, the club has been transformed. From relegation candidates to Top 4 challengers. Under Eddie Howe, The Magpies had an incredible ’22/23 Premier League season. The acquisition of Sven Botman and Nick Pope transformed their back line conceding only 33, the same amount of goals as league winners Manchester City. Nearly halving the goals they conceded the season prior, they ended the season with 71 points and a Champions League spot.

Last season was the first time Newcastle scored 70+ points since the ’01/02 season. Now playing their first Champions League game since 2003, the Magpies will be hoping to improve on an already spectacular last season.

With the benchmark now set and with the addition of Italian sensation Sandro Tonali from A.C Milan, the fans believe that making the Champions League again will be the goal.
