Manchester United frontman Marcus Rashford faced an uncomfortable situation when he bid farewell to his former teammate David de Gea on social media. The Spanish goalkeeper ended his 12-year time at the club, leading Rashford and others to express their goodbyes.

Rashford, one of the icons of the club, posted a picture on Instagram where the two were locked in an embrace. However, it was the faulty caption that caught the eye of the fans. Apparently, the United number 10 copied the caption from someone who suggested a blueprint for it. It read, “I thought of a caption: You’ve been there for me from the start, and I genuinely hope you find success in your future endeavors, my friend.” It certainly did paint the forward, who is always very thoughtful, in a negative light.

The caption has since been edited and the first part of it was removed by Rashford. It seems that he has also deactivated the option to comment on the post. He was one of the key members of the club to wish the departing shot-stopper. Apart from him, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Harry Maguire have also left messages for the 33-year-old. Casemiro, in his Instagram post, said, “David, my mate !! You made history with Manchester United. You will always be a Red Devil, and these fans will continue to support you wherever your next challenge leads you. You will always be one of us ? . My best wishes!!“

De Gea, who had an amazing time at Manchester United, won the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League, and League Cup titles. He has been one of the standout performers for the club in some of its most important matches. In his 12 seasons with the club, he has kept 190 clean sheets, the highest in the history of the club.

The Spaniard, however, has radically declined over the last three seasons and now sees himself without a club. He does have suitors in the Saudi Pro League, however. According to some reports, De Gea has already agreed to personal terms with Saudi giants Al Nassr. He would reunite with former teammate and Portuguese talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.

De Gea is one from the olden days with a spider-like reflex while facing a shot but struggles to find a teammate in a field full of cones.

This is not to say that he was doomed from the start but after countless attempts and some costly errors, the management decided to part ways.
