Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli shared a hilarious moment on social media. The former decided to hang up his boots at the end of the 2022/23 season for AC Milan. Balotelli on the other hand, is employed by Adana Demirspor, a club in the Super Lig. Mario Balotelli is no stranger to criticism. The Italian has had his fair share of controversial moments, both on and off the pitch.

Recently, Ibrahimovic criticized the Italian for wasting away his career. He said that Mario failed to ‘maximize his talent’. Moreover, he also said that he failed to make use of the many opportunities presented to him. “He just threw his talent away. This is the truth,” said Zlatan. However, Balotelli responded with a brutal dig at his former teammate.

Mario Balotelli shared a picture of himself lighting the UEFA Champions League back in 2009/10. He shared the picture on his story and tagged Zlatan underneath the image.

He hit back at Zlatan’s comment, showing that he’d never won the UCL himself. The incident has gone viral on social media. The Italian has only made 2 appearances for his club this season.

Aged 35, the player had the opportunity to join the club, where Jose Mourinho had taken charge. He asked 5 players for their opinion to join the club. Quoting Zlatan, “Everyone told me not to go because if I did badly, they’ll forget what I did in the past.” However, in a classic Zlatan quote, he said, “The others walk on water. I walk on fire.”

He said that their comments fuelled him to join the club. Zlatan enjoyed a good first season at United. He won 2 Trophies before blowing out to an ACL injury. Zlatan ended his career a full 6 seasons after he left United, at AC Milan. He racked up 496 goals in his career while playing for 7 different clubs in Europe. Zlatan ended his career after leading AC Milan to the Serie A in 2021/22, 10 seasons after their last.
