Mason Greenwood has been provided additional services from Getafe after signing a season-long loan from Manchester United. According to news outlets, Mason will receive £8,000-a-month, six-bedroom city villa close to his new club’s training ground and access to a private translator 24/7.
The care package from the Madrid-based side was part of the negotiations to ensure Greenwood has a comfortable stay. His friends and family are expected to visit him regularly. His father Andrew, 53 is also expected to move in with the player. A translator has also been hired to ensure that the Englishman has no issues settling in a foreign country. Mason Greenwood is also keen to get his football career back on track after not playing professionally for over a year. His last club appearance came against West Ham on 22nd January 2022.
Sources close to Greenwood have spoken stating the player is excited to restart his career in La Liga. He wants to play against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. He also hopes to prove to everyone that he has matured in the past 18 months. Getafe and Man United seem to fully support his return as both clubs are ensuring that Greenwood is not isolated after past events. According to Greenwood, he wishes to be, “a good father, a better person, and to use my talents in a positive way on and off the pitch.”
With his debut expected to be after the International break, viewers will be curious to see how the player gets along. Mason Greenwood will likely make and appearance for Getafe in their match against Osasuna on the 17th of September.
Why is Mason Greenwood still a Manchester United player?
On the 21st of August, Manchester United had changed their decision to re-integrate Mason Greenwood back into the squad. The club faced massive backlash from fans online, celebrities who support the club, and even the employees. It was clearly evident that they did not want the player associated with the club any longer. United had made the situation worse after stating that they would label pundits, and journalists as ‘hostile’ if they were not supportive of the player’s return.
After much pressure from everywhere Man United released a statement, “It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
Many criticized United for the handling of the player but were happy that he was finally leaving. However, many believed that he would leave permanently on a transfer. After striking a season-long loan deal with Getafe, Mason Greenwood is still technically a Manchester United player. He is still being paid the majority of his wages by the club. He will return once the loan spell is over.
Complaints about the ownership and higher-ups are common within Manchester United fan circles. With another saga of Mason Greenwood awaiting yet again when he re-joins in 2024, fans are tired of how the club is being run.
