After reports surfaced that Mason Greenwood will not be returning to Manchester United, the player’s future seems to be elsewhere, in the Saudi Pro League to be precise. After an internal investigation along with massive fan protest made the management come to the conclusion that Greenwood will leave the club with immediate effect. Al-Ettifaq have come forward with a £10m per year contract for the player.
The player was accused of assault. Following this investigations led to drop charges being dropped due to ‘lack of key witnesses’. However, public figures as well as club supporters strongly opposed the club’s initial thoughts about reinstating the player and canceling his 18-month suspension. Recent reports suggest that the player’s future is in Saudi, with Al-Ettifaq and other clubs coming forward for the 21-year-old.
Al-Ettifaq, managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard are frontrunners for the player. While Roma and other Saudi clubs have also come forward. The player and club have agreed to cut ties through mutual consent.
