Massimiliano Allegri wore his ‘heart on his sleeve’ during Juventus‘ fixture against AC Milan as he lost his head – at the touchline – on several occasions during the game.  Juventus played AC Milan at the San Siro this past weekend in what was a hard-fought 1-0 for the visitors.

In the 63rd minute, a goal from Manuel Locatelli against his former club was enough on the night as Juventus claimed all three points placing them third in the Serie A table. In a game of high emotions, Massimiliano Allegri was caught on camera- during several intervals during the game – raging on the touchline.

One such occasion saw the manager angrily remove his coat before kicking the advertising board. By the end of the game, the camera panned on him again with viewers noticing Allegri no longer has his tie on. Massimiliano Allegri ended the game on a yellow card.

In a post-game interview, Massimiliano Allegri gave his reasoning for his actions while applauding his team’s effort claiming Juventus played well defensively. He said:

We are happy about the victory, but we needed to manage ball possession better. I got very angry because we can’t always risk restarts due to our mistakes. It’s been a long time since we won against Milan, the boys were good.

AC Milan’s loss to Juventus gave Inter Milan the opportunity to take the first spot in the league. With only 2 points separating third-place Juventus and first-place Inter Milan, the title race in Serie A is heating up.

No Europe for Juventus could prove vital for Massimiliano Allegri’s men

After Juventus were sentenced to no European Football for the 2023/24 season, due to breaches in the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, Juventus could see this opportunity as a blessing in disguise.

AC Milan, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, and Napoli, who are all currently competing in Serie A, have additional matches due to European competitions. In contrast, Juventus, the only contender not playing midweek, has a significant advantage.

This extra rest period, with a minimum of 6 days between games until January 10, 2024, reduces the risk of injuries. Which has been a prevalent issue this season across Europe.

Further, the Old Lady has not witnessed a Serie A title lift since the 2019/20 season. So, now Juventus will focus on their 37th Scudetto without the burden of the European commitments.
