The Women of the Spanish National Team have been awarded the Royal Order of Sports Merit from the Higher Sports Council after their success in the World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand. However, Spanish Newspaper ‘MARCA’, have noticed an error in the list meant to honor these champions in the Official State Gazette.
The first name on the list is Ivana Icardi Rivero, sister of Mauro Icardi. The name which should been on top is Ivana Andrés, captain of Spain and Real Madrid. Ivana Icardi on the other hand is an influencer who was a contestant on the show ‘Survivor.’ Another error in the sheet was found with regard to Aitana Bonmatí Conca. The player who won the FIFA Golden Ball, awarded to the best player of the tournament, had her name misspelt. Aitana’s last name was printed as ‘Concas’ rather than ‘Conca’ adding an extra ‘s’ in the name.
The State Gazette have since then come out and apologized claiming ‘human error’. The public had a variety of reactions. Many had a laugh, thinking it to be a small issue. Others have argued such errors such a lack of concern and acknowledgement for the players. Aitana Bonmatí Conca had an immense last season being awarded the best player in the Champions League and World Cup. The player was recently awarded the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.
After the recent controversy with the Spanish National Team and the RFEF, was this the right time to make such an error? Some of the public believe it to be so suggesting it might lighten up the mood, others believe it to be a lack of respect.

Jorge Vilda was seen applauding Luis Rubiales’ speech in what was regarded as an ’embarrassment of Spanish Football’. The coach was also responsible for 15 players resigning from the National Team prior to the World Cup.
Jorge Vilda has since then gone on the Radio since his sack. Vilda denied allegations of players not being allowed to close doors in the hotel. “I have NEVER and WILL NEVER applaud anything sexist.
