It is no secret that football X and social media circles are often unforgiving and harsh when it comes to trolls and insensitive comments. Time and again, several players and managers have come under abuse, trolls and negative attention. Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has become the latest to speak out against the same, after he and his team have come under criticism by fans.
Several players, majorly in underperforming and weak sides come under criticism on the internet, with fans showing no ‘mercy’ to players and staff. Erik ten Hag and Pochettino are just a few in the long list of managers that have been crucified on social media.
The problem with social media is that it's necessary to communicate with your fans. Here, I'm always smiling but on social media I'm the worst guy in the world. But I'm not going to change my values. I don't care.Mauricio Pochettino said in a press conference ahead of the game vs United
Chelsea are currently 12th in the Premier League after dropping points against Burnley in a 2-2 draw earlier this week.
Pochettino outlines major fear against Manchester United
Mauricio Pochettino and co. face a daunting challenge in the Premier League as they prepare to take on Erik ten Hag‘s men at Stamford Bridge. The Blues boss has failed to lead his side to a top-half spot up until now and will be looking to pick up important points against the Red Devils. With just ten games left to play for the Blues, every point matters in their push to finish in the upper half of the table.
Man United on the other hand, remain firmly seated at 6th, with 48 points from 29 games. Ahead of the fixture, Pochettino said that he fears that his players may have fallen into a comfort zone. He reminded the squad that at Chelsea, people expect more and that one needs to put more input so as to not be in a zone of ‘comfort’.
He warned his team to not drop their standards and live up to the constant demand to win games. With both sides trying to make amends for largely disappointing seasons, it remains to be seen who will come out on top at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have games against United, Manchester City and Arsenal in their final stretch of games. Chelsea’s only realistic chance of lifting silverware this season is in the FA Cup, where they face Man City in the semi-final.
