‘When we won it was due to individual talent and if we lost it was my fault’- Mauricio Pochettino slams PSG board for denying him the credit for his efforts
Mauricio Pochettino
Mauricio Pochettino, one of the renowned defenders of his time has had his time on the field with people appreciating his playing style in the defensive role. The Argentinian took up coaching to make sure after retirement he still stays connected to the beautiful game. His first management role came with Espanyol and after three years at Spain he joined Southampton in the Premier League.
His style of play made the Saints touch respectable positions in the league which then made Tottenham curious about his services. A successful stint with Tottenham gave him the confidence to push on to the next level with French giants Paris Saint Germain. The move didn’t go as planned with PSG sacking him after just one and a half years in charge.
This past July Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by the club which was something Pochettino wasn’t very proud of considering the effort he has put to build up the team of stars. It certainly is hard to manage a team where you have Lionel Messi who is the best player on the planet with Brazilian superstar Neymar and the upcoming star to be Mbappe.
‘When we won it was due to individual talent and if we lost it was my fault‘, this was what he had to say in his interview with the daily mail and why not? Winning the league title and the French club wasn’t enough for the board and the only missing piece of the jigsaw which probably was the Champions League was something he could not bring to the Parisians.
Mauricio Pochettino slams the club for sacking him
The former player and coach slammed the club as “the most ungrateful club” after his sacking in July. Mauricio Pochettino had a lot of struggles to face that he mentioned and one of such things was that he was very much undervalued considering the number of stars that were playing under his coaching guidance with a lot of controversies surrounding all of them.
On difficulties to manage top players, he said ‘For Barça to have Messi or for Madrid to have Cristiano is a blessing. But when you bring in too many players who all need their spot and be number one, there can be confusion.’, throughout the game its 11 players behind the ball, and if its a situation of a penalty to be taken it is not even his decision to who will take it. The exact same issue arose in the month of August when Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar were involved in a row to take up a penalty during the game.
