Former USWNT star, Megan Rapinoe makes a controversial statement after her she was subbed off in the early stages of the NWSL Championship game in the final game of her career. The 38-year-old suffered a non-contact Achilles injury.

Taking part in the post-match conference with fellow teammate Rose Lavelle, Megan Rapinoe spoke about her injury and the possible route of treatment. Rapinoe said: 

I'm gonna get the Aaron Rogers treatment, whatever that is. We need to speed this[healing] up.

Then out of nowhere, Megan Rapinoe claimed she was not a religious person and if there was a God, she stated:

Her teammate Rose Lavelle could only turn away and let out a small laugh at Rapinoe’s statement.

In her last pro game against Gotham FC for OL Reigns in the NWSL Championship, Megan Rapinoe aimed to secure a title she’d never won before. Unfortunately, her dream ended abruptly with an Achilles injury just three minutes into the match. Despite her absence, OL Reigns lost 2-1 to Gotham FC, dashing Rapinoe’s hopes for a perfect final game.

Now spending her time in retirement, many US fans have shown support for the player and her illustrious career. But, a few sections have claimed ‘Good Riddance’.
