Megan Rapinoe‘s was spotted with partner Sue Bird in NYC, as the couple was having lunch. It was Rapinoe’s first public appearance after the national team’s World-cup loss. She missed the last penalty smirking in horror. The USWNT veteran has since been quietly recovering from the harsh reality.

Rapinoe was wearing a white tank top in the SOHO sun. The couple seemed in good spirits with Rapinoe’s retirement. Her reaction to missing the last penalty kick of her professional life seemed like a ‘sick joke.’ Her missing the penalty and conceding the game was the ‘dark comedy’ end of her efforts.

She also said she was convinced the team was in good hands. Since she had scored every other penalty for the National team before her last ever kick, according to ESPN. Her despicable performances have also drawn massive criticism from ex-President Donald Trump. After their back-to-back World-Cup victories, Trump had invited the entire team to the White House, which they had declined.

The 38-year-old player had earlier revealed that she will be based in Seattle with Sue, where both had played professionally. During lunch, they were also seen meeting up with another female friend, as the three chatted along in good spirits.

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird bought a lavish New York apartment in 2021. It was featured in Elle Decor‘s magazine issue. They sent a private message to Mark Grattan on Instagram, saying they needed ‘Halp.’ They live inside a 1650-square-foot two-bedroom apartment with high ceilings and vibrant views of the New York skyline.

Rapinoe had earlier said that “New York is a really special place to both of us.” They also have a rooftop terrace to boot. The couple seems to cherish New York, even claiming that they fell in love there. Matching the depth of their relationship, the designer gave the apartment a modern look, with eye-catching colors and wooden interiors that feel royal.

Their living room has a sofa upholstered in linen by Dedhar and Martin Sokol’s leather. The cocktail table and mirror are completely customized by Mark Grattan. The soccer star announced her retirement from the sport last month and would be looking forward to a less controversial life.
