“You’ll never play with me,” Luis Enrique makes his intensions clear with this star PSG midfielder

PSG are currently going through a mass departure of experienced players like Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr. and Sergio Ramos. That being said, one of PSG’s most loyal players, Marco Verratti, is set to pack his bags from the French capital. He signed for PSG way back in 2012, that too for a fee of €12m from then Serie A club Pescara. After his move to Paris, Verratti became the heart of the Paris midfielder, setting the tone for the team and featuring for the Parisiens regularly for 11 long seasons. Verratti has won 7 Ligue 1 titles as well as 9 Coupe de la Ligue and 6 Coupe de France respectively. After a career-defining spell with the Parisiens, reports suggest that the midfielder’s time with PSG has come to an end after newly appointed coach Luis Enrique does not see the player in his plans for the club.
Luis Enrique has not given the 29-year-old any minutes in Ligue 1 after he took charge of the club. Even though the player recently signed an extension with the club and has been part of every matchday squad this season, as well as the preseason tour in Japan, he has yet to play this season. LeParisien reports that Luis Enrique even told the player, “You will never play with me.” As it stands, it is very likely that the Italian eyes a move to Saudi and most likely, a reunion with former club teammate Neymar at Al-Hilal. Reports suggest that Verratti will cost the Saudi club at least €70-80m as the player recently signed a new deal with the club. While PSG are set to offload the long-serving midfielder, several fans have expressed their distaste for this decision. Many believe that it was Verratti whom the club had to make the centre of the midfield rebuild. Manuel Ugarte has become the ‘replacement’ for Verratti, with the Uruguayan featuring in the middle of the park in recent Ligue 1 games.
PSG have brought in several new players following the departure of many core players. Manuel Ugarte, Milan Skriniar, Ousmane Dembele and Marco Asensio are all part of the squad rebuild with Kylian Mbappe captaining this ‘new’ squad. In spite of his imminent departure, Marco Verratti continues to be a maestro of his position for fans and players alike, with the player even being lauded by Lionel Messi, calling him a “phenomenon”.
Kylian Mbappe saga reportedly ending as Frenchman likely to stay at PSG
After multiple seasons of Mbappe to Real Madrid rumours, the saga may be ending completely, as the Frenchman is set to sign an extension with the Parisiens, until 2026. Reports suggest that Mbappe’s contract is ready and that there is already an agreement by word that the player can also choose a sale clause in 2024.
After Mbappe turned down initial contact offers, PSG were adamant in their stand. He was left out of the preseason tour as well as the Ligue 1 opener for PSG.
However, after being reinstated to the team, Real Madrid have drawn out of the transfer window, and with an Mbappe extension likely, the biggest saga ever might just be ending.
